On this tour, Sardinha visits Sintra - a unique place in the world, the first “Cultural Landscape” to be inscribed as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site. In ancient times, it was known as “Moonlight Hill", a place of prehistoric cults and rituals. In the 19-century, it became the ultimate exponent of the romantic ideal, materialized in the stunning Pena National Palace.
D. Fernando II was able to transform the ruins of a monastery into a castle, where the new sensibility was expressed through the use of Gothic, Egyptian, Islamic and Renaissance elements, and the creation of a natural park that combines local and exotic essences.
Have lunch in the village of Sintra, where you can visit the Sintra National Palace, Quinta da Regaleira or taste the region's famous sweets: travesseiros and queijadas.
Then we head to Cabo da Roca - the westernmost point of the European continent - where you can be amazed by fantastic photographs of the fabulous views, where “the land ends and the sea begins”.
We continue to ride along the coast past beautiful Guincho Beach, a surfer's paradise, and the Boca do Inferno (Hell's Mouth) rock formation to Cascais - admire the charm of this former royal summer village and enjoy a walking tour by the bay or the elegant cafes of the city.
On our return to Lisbon, we also go through Estoril, where Ian Fleming had inspired during World War II to create the 007 James Bond character, the most famous spy in the world.
